Blow Torch Fat with Balanced Blood Sugar

See how you can Blow Torch FAT with some simple science.

The Key to weight loss and continual weight management is to balance your blood sugar levels.

Let me share with you why in the simplest way.

Blood sugar, or glucose, is the fuel that keeps your body and brain working, it drives both physical and mental activities. Our body produces glucose from the proteins, carbohydrates & fats we consume. Our body also produces two hormones that are responsible for controlling the amount of sugar in the body. These are called insulin and glucagon.

These two hormones work in opposing ways. Insulin is responsible for decreasing blood sugar levels & glucagon is responsible for increasing the amount of sugar in the blood.

Insulin lowers blood sugar levels by converting it in to 'fat' where it is stored in the fat cells.

Glucagon however instructs your body to convert fat into sugar and provide it to your body via the blood.

These two hormones work like a see-saw: when one is up, the other is down & visa versa.

High levels of blood sugar stimulate the release of insulin, which instructs the body to store blood sugar as fat. This means you gain fat!

By lowering insulin levels and increasing the glucagon levels your body will begin to convert fat into blood sugar, which is then used as a fuel by your body. This means you loose fat!

Simple way to think of it is, insulin is a fat storage hormone and glucagon is a fat burning hormone.

The way to control these opposing hormones is through food. What you eat controls your hormones.

At a glance let's see how your insulin and glucagon levels are affected by the three macronutrients groups, Protein, Carbohydrates & Fats.

Protein:

  • Stimulates the release of glucagon
  • Counter the release of insulin
  • Reduces craving for carbohydrates
  • Balances hormone levels
  • Stops tiredness and sleepiness after meals

Carbohydrates:

  • Exces amounts causes blood sugar levels to 'spike'
  • This stimulates the release of insulin in order to reduce blood sugar levels
  • Increases insulin levels in the body
  • Which encourages storage of fat
  • Rapidly lowering blood sugar levels - resulting in a sugar 'crash'
  • Crave more carbohydrates.
  • Blood sugar levels yo-yo as a result of this cycle

Fats (good fats):

  • Slows down absorption of food, thus slowing down conversion of carbs into glucose
  • Stabilizes blood sugar levels
  • Helps to produce a hormone called Cholecystokinin (CCK) which signals the brain to stop eating
  • Reduces hunger cravings

Balanced Nutrition is the Key

Ground breaking research by Dr Barry Seers (creator of The Zone diet), Dr Atkins (creator of the Atkins Diet), Rick Gallop (creator of the GI Diet) & others have shown that managing blood sugar levels through hormonal balance is the key to effective and sustainable weight loss.

One of the most effective programmes is the revolutionary 40-30-30 ration of Carbohydrate, Proteins & Fats.

By eating 5 times per day (breakfast, lunch & dinner with 2 snacks between meals) with each 'meal' in the ration of 40% carbohydrates 30% Protein 30% Fats - balances blood sugar levels and raises glucagon levels and reduces insulin levels.

Why not try a 7 Day Plan in 'The Zone' (40-30-30) by Dr Barry Seers - Check out the plans in the members area - there's one for Men & Women & why not read more on 'The Zone' in the nutrition section also.
